Fisetin (7,3′,4′-flavon-3-ol) is a flavonoid found in a variety of fruits and vegetables. Like other flavonoids, it is bright yellow and was even used in a dye called young fustic. Fisetin has a wide range of antiinflammatory and antioxidant properties, though more recently it has gained attention as a potential senolytic and may promote healthy aging.

A senolytic is a compound that promotes death in older cells and can be thought of as “culling the herd” of animal cells. While this property is very poorly understood, Fisetin was able to extend the lifespan and reduce health complications in aging mice.

On top of its novel anti-aging properties, Fisetin has a wide range of other bioactivities that may be beneficial for a wide range of people. Fisetin has strong antioxidant and free-radical scavenging properties, which may promote healthy skin and brain health. Fisetin is a potent anti-inflammatory agent and directly inhibits the activity pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNFα, NF-κB, and IL6. This is not a surprise due to its structural relationship to the powerful anti-inflammatory Quercetin (Fisetin being 5-Deoxyquercetin), however Fisetin is believed to have nearly double the oral bioavailability and a wider range of effects. Flavonoids are often synergistic when taken in conjunction.

This product is 2 grams [0.07 oz] of Fisetin at ≥98% purity in a transparent, reclosable plastic jar with an integrated Safety Seal and Shrinkband.

Also included are the certificate of analysis for the individual Fisetin batch and a 0.625cc measuring scoop which measures approximately one serving of 250mg Fisetin.

Fisetin Benefits and Uses

Fisetin is a plant polyphenol and flavonoid compound that has been extensively studied for its powerful antioxidant and health-promoting benefits. One of the key benefits is that it is generally considered to be safe for use over longer periods of time, without potential tolerance or withdrawals.

Recent studies have examined potential anti-inflammatory, neurotrophic, and neuroprotective effects of Fisetin. Food sources that are rich in Fisetin include strawberries, apples, persimmon, lotus root, onion, grapes, kiwis, peaches, and cucumbers.

Although most of the studies conducted on Fisetin to date have been plant, animal, or human cell culture studies, there is an increasing tendency towards human clinical trials, provided funding can be achieved. For example, in animal studies, Fisetin has been shown to increase lifespan and to reduce senescence markers.
