    Apigenin - 2 Grams (Sample) - 98% Pure

    $12.68

    Availability:In stock

Apigenin (Matricaria chamomilla extract) is a flavonoid found in a variety of fruits and vegetables. Like other related compounds, it was once used as a yellow dye for wool. It is the most prevalent flavonoid in Chamomile (both Roman and German varieties) and believed to be responsible for a majority of its relaxing and sedating effects. Chamomile is a staple of a variety of traditional medicines across the globe.

Apigenin possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, cognition enhancing, and relaxing properties through a variety of mechanisms shared by similar flavonoids like Baicalein. Interestingly, Apigenin also may decrease sensitivity to sugar by inhibiting the breakdown of certain starches into glucose, as well as by increasing insulin secretion.

The anti-inflammatory properties of Apigenin are not as well understood as other flavonoids, but some studies indicate it may be especially beneficial for gut inflammation. It also inhibits COX-2 and PGE2. Apigenin is also a potent antioxidant and may act as a photoprotective agent against UVA and UVB light when taken orally.

The calming effect of Apigenin is partially due to its ability to bind the GABA-A receptor and act as a partial modulator. It likely potentiates (and is potentiated by) other flavonoids due to its complex CYP enzyme interactions in the liver. Apigenin also is known for its mood-boosting effects and some studies indicate it may normalize the ERK/CREB/BDNF pathway and enhance BDNF expression in certain cases. This may account for some of its cognition-enhancing effects.

This product is 2 grams/0.07 oz of pure Matricaria chamomilla extract, standardized to contain ≥98% Apigenin in a transparent, reclosable plastic jar with an integrated Safety Seal and Shrinkband.

Also included are the certificate of analysis for the individual Apigenin batch and a 0.625cc measuring scoop. One rounded scoop contains approximately one serving of 250mg Apigenin.

    Matrine - 2 Grams (Sample) - 98% Pure

    $10.68

    Availability:In stock

Matrine is a naturally-occurring alkaloid found in Sophora flavescens. This herb is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is believed to enhance liver function. It has immune modulating properties, and more recent studies indicate it is a potent anti-inflammatory. It also has unique mu and kappa opioid activating properties that some users report synergize with herbs like kratom.

Matrine has been shown to reduce expression of inflammatory mediators COX-2, TNF-α, IL-6 and ICAM-1, among other targets. It also may inhibit NF-κB. This combination of targets makes it a promising molecule for many types of inflammation. It also has potent ant-oxidant properties and inhibits neuronal apoptosis in mice following injury.

The oral bioavailability ranges from 17% to 44% depending on species. Sophora flavescens has other toxic molecules that make its use as a traditional medicine risky, however isolated Matrine shows much less toxicity than related molecules. However, at higher doses it may exhibit unpleasant psychotropic effects. Staying within the recommended dose range is highly recommended.

This product is 2 grams/ 0.07 oz of pure Sophora flavescens extract, standardized to contain ≥98% Matrine in a transparent, reclosable jar with an integrated Safety Seal and Shrinkband.

Also included are the certificate of analysis for the individual Matrine batch and a 0.15cc measuring scoop. Three level scoops contain approximately one serving of 250mg Matrinet. Use of a scale with 0.001g accuracy is recommended for reliable measurement.

  8. Gotu Kola Extract - 2 Grams (Sample) - ≥70% Triterpenoids

Gotu Kola Extract - 2 Grams (Sample) - ≥70% Triterpenoids

    $12.68

    Availability:In stock

Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) is a perennial found in marshes throughout most of Asia. It is used for culinary purposes (food and drink) as well as in traditional medicine. Interestingly, it is used in both Ayurvedic (Traditional Indian medicine) and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) because it is geographically widespread. It is also used in many beauty products as an anti-aging topical. The primary active components of Gotu Kola are triterpenoid saponins Asiaticoside, Asiaticoside B, and Madecassoside, which have potent mood lifting, relaxing, and anti-inflammatory effects. Gotu Kola triterpenoids may also be neuroprotective and promote learning. Liftmode Gotu Kola is standardized to contain ≥18% Asiaticoside ≥55% Madecassoside + Asiaticoside B, or ≥70% triterpenoids.

The triterpenoid saponins unique to Gotu Kola have a wide range of activities. Traditionally, Gotu Kola was used for stress and mood, but recent studies indicate the triterpenoid saponins may have a more complex pharmacological role than expected. Gotu Kola increases cerebral GABA levels, which is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter. This action may be responsible for its acute calming effects. The saponins have been shown to increase serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine levels in the brain. As expected, studies indicate Gotu Kola supplementation may help focus. Gotu Kola saponins may also reduce glutamatergic excitotoxicity, which is the degradation of neurons from a surge of excitatory neurotransmitters. This can occur with chronic stress.

Gotu Kola may also have long-term benefits. The saponins and their metabolites are believed to promote neurogenesis by enhancing expression of BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor) and NGF (Nerve Growth Factor) which may promote learning as well as mood. Low BDNF levels are often associated with lowered mood and interest in new activities. In rats, oral Gotu Kola was found to enhance dendritic arborization, or the formation of new connections in the brain.

The anti-inflammatory properties of Gotu Kola are a staple of its traditional use, but recent studies indicate saponin metabolite Asiatic Acid may suppress NF-kB and COX-2 expression within inflammatory macrophages.

This product is 2 grams / 0.07 oz of pure Gotu Kola extract, standardized to contain standardized to contain ≥18% Asiaticoside ≥55% Madecassoside + Asiaticoside B, or ≥70% triterpenoids in a transparent, reclosable jar with an integrated Safety Seal and Shrinkband.

Also included are the certificate of analysis for the individual Gotu Kola extract batch and a 0.15cc measuring scoop. Two level scoops contain approximately one serving of 100mg Gotu Kola Extract. Use of a scale with 0.001g accuracy is recommended for reliable measurement.

  9. 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone - 1 Gram - 98% Pure

    7,8-Dihydroxyflavone - 1 Gram - 98% Pure

    $18.68

    Availability:In stock

7,8-DHF (7,8-Dihydroxyflavone) is a naturally occurring flavonoid with possible cognition-enhancing properties. Its recent discovery has spurred research into its unique properties. Due to its low solubility and extensive first-pass metabolism, 7,8-DHF has poor oral bioavailability. However, it is able to cross the blood brain barrier effectively.

7,8-DHF is believed to directly bind the tropomyosin-related kinase B (TrkB) receptor, which is the endogenous receptor for BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor). BDNF can be thought of as “MiracleGro for the brain;” it is one of the main neurotrophic factors responsible for neurogenesis and increases dendritic outgrowth and density. By enhancing TrkB expression, it may be possible to increase the rate new synapses are formed, thus enhancing learning. Some researchers hypothesize that 7,8-DHF does not bind TrkB directly, but instead acts on an unknown pathway that results in the same end result--increased TrkB activity. 7,8-DHF is believed to have a similar degree of neurogenic activities as BDNF.

On top of its effects on neurogenesis, 7,8-DHF is also neuroprotective. It has antioxidant properties in the brain that are independent of its TrkB activity. While these mechanisms are not understood, it is believed to activate the Akt/PKB pathway.

Some animal studies indicate that 7,8-DHF may combat stress and boost mood. It is possible that it is more effective in repairing damaged, rather than healthy neurons and pathways. Anecdotal evidence suggests higher doses may provide an acute mood boost. Sublingual administration is recommended to avoid first-pass metabolism.

This product is 1 grams [0.035 oz] of pure 7,8-Dihydroxflavone, HPLC-verified at ≥98% purity in a transparent, reclosable glass jar with an integrated Safety Seal and Shrinkband.

Also included are the certificate of analysis for the individual 7,8-DHF batch and a 0.15cc measuring scoop. One rounded scoop contains approximately one serving of 40mg 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone.

Kanna Extract Reviews

Kanna Extract Benefits and Uses

Anecdotally, Kanna extracts are said to produce tranquil yet improved states of mood, while acting as a mild stress-reducing supplement. Some people use Kanna extract for cognition. Research has indicated that Kanna extract acts as a mild SRI (serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and an inhibitor of the PDE4 enzyme.

Kanna extract contains several important alkaloids. For purposes of taxonomy, scientists have given all of the Kanna-derived alkaloids the prefix: “mesembr-”. The most important alkaloids include:

  1. Mesembrine: A powerful serotonin reuptake inhibitor.

  2. Mesembrenone: Inhibits both serotonin reuptake and the activities of PDE-4 enzymes.

  3. Mesembrenol: Secondary alkaloid with similar effects.

  4. Mesembranol: Secondary alkaloid with similar effects.

Scientific Consensus:

An extremely long history of use suggests that using the fermented plant is safe and effective, but does not provide sufficient proof. Further, very few studies have been conducted using a strong Kanna Extract. More research is needed to fully understand the significance of the benefits and adverse effects of this supplement.

There is not enough research about the safety of Kanna Extract for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
