Olive Leaf Extract (Olea europaea) is composed of several bitter phenolics not included in products derived from the olive fruit. The most prevalent of these is oleuropein. When olives or olive leaves are processed for eating, the oleuropein content is reduced by soaking the olives in Lye, which cleaves the molecule into hydroxytyrosol and elenolic acid. While hydroxytyrosol has its own antioxidant effects, Oleuropein is believed to have a much broader range of biological properties. Our extract is standardized to ≥35% Oleuropein. Olive leaves and branches have been a sign of peace health for thousands of years and their use in folk medicine dates back centuries.
