Cistanche tubulosa, referred to as Rou Cong Rong, is a parasitic plant native to the desert regions of China. Description

Cistanche tubulosa Benefits and Uses

C. tubulosa is a member of the Cistanche, Orobanchaceae plants a group of parasitic herbs growing in the drier areas of Eurasia. The plant is well known in herbal medicine due to its potent antioxidant, anti-fatigue, and healthy ageing benefits.

Phenyelthanoid glycosides are the active components present in C. tubulosa responsible for the herb’s powerful properties. The acteoside glycoside, the most bioactive of these antioxidants, containing 5 times more vitamin C than oranges. Our Cistanche extract is standardized to contain 22% Echinacoside and 6% Acteoside.

Anecdotally, C. tubulosa may protect the brain against the negative effects of aging, improving the ability to learn and focus. Statistics looking at the diet of populations with the highest life expectancy, namely in Hotan and Okinawa, found that regular consumption of C. tubulosa may be a contributing factor to longevity and well-being. It may also support healthy metabolism, boost libido, and support digestive health.
