Green Coffee Bean Extract (GCBE) is a dietary supplement that is derived from the seeds of coffee beans (Coffea fruit). It is thought to possess many health benefits due to its high concentration of Chlorogenic Acid – the fruit’s active ingredient. Some of these include boosting circulation and promoting longevity.


Green Coffee Bean Extract (≥50% Chlorogenic Acid) Benefits and Uses

Green Coffee Beans are coffee beans that have not yet been roasted. The roasting process decreases the level of Chlorogenic Acid contained in the beans – the bioactive component responsible for many of the seed’s healthful effects. Since Green Coffee beans are not roasted, they contain higher amounts of Chlorogenic Acid.

Green Coffee Bean Extract (GCBE) is often consumed for its perceived benefits in promoting a healthy metabolism and a healthy circulatory system. It may also offer antioxidant effects that promote healthy aging and cognitive function.

Currently, there aren’t many human trials testing the efficacy of GBCE on weight. However, there is one review of human studies that indicated GCBE may help to promote a healthy metabolism. It should be noted that the duration and number of subjects in the review was small. Further research is needed.

The side effects of Green Coffee Extract are mild and resemble those of regular coffee. These may include heart palpitations, frequent urination, anxiety, restlessness, and an upset stomach, at large servings. There is not currently enough data regarding the safety of this supplement for pregnant or breastfeeding women, therefore should be avoided by these groups.

Green Coffee Extract

Green Coffee extract is an ethyl acetate extraction of unroasted, decaffeinated dried berries (beans) of the *Caffea canephora* tree. The primary active constituents of Green Coffee extract are similar to the chemical makeup of standard coffee, but have a higher concentration of Chlorogenic acids due to their relatively-low solubility in water. Chlorogenic acids are powerful antioxidants, and may have similar properties as the active components of Olive Leaf Extract.
